Re: New RFU Clubs Agreement with Sky

Further to the numerous enquiries we have had from clubs on this issue, I wanted to come back to you with a clear and definitive position. I am delighted to be able to announce that, despite the fact the new deal with Sky does not commence until December 2010, they have agreed to bring forward the new preferential deal for RFU Clubs to start on 1st December 2009.

This means that from that date any RFU affiliated club is entitled to a package of Sky services that includes Sky Sports 1, 2 and 3 as well as Sky Sports News for a base monthly cost of £109. Any club signing up to Sky's RFU Clubs service could also have access to enhanced packages such as Sky Ultimate for £205 per month as well as a range of hardware options if they wish. The agreement will run through to December 2015 with a capped increase of 10% in the second year.

If a club is already signed up with the Sky RFU Clubs service then you will be automatically switched over to the new rate on 1st December. Some clubs may be on a different service such as a Pub and Club service and which may have a more expensive cost per month. If the club wishes to switch to the RFU Club deal then the club will need to call Sky on 08448 244 244 and Sky will verify their affiliation through RugbyFirst and switch the club over. There will be no rebates payable to clubs previously paying a higher rate for a different service.
