The Cornwall Rugby Football Union (The CRFU)
CRFU Patron: HRH Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, K.G., K.T.
The CRFU was formed in 1883. It is a Union of the forty Rugby Football Clubs in Cornwall and is in membership with the Rugby Football Union. The structure of the Cornwall RFU involves all the Cornish Clubs, the Cornwall Senior XV, the Cornwall Under 20 XV, the Cornwall Clubs XV and the associated bodies of the Cornwall 18 Group Clubs, the Cornwall Schools (18 Group), the Cornwall Schools (16 Group), the Cornwall Mini-Junior Rugby Group and the Cornwall Rugby Referees Society. All teams representing Cornwall play in Black and Gold colours. The Union is run by a committee of representatives from each of the clubs and from each of the associated bodies, and is supported by an executive committee and six specialist sub-committees. The patron of the Cornwall RFU is H.R.H. The Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, K.G., K.T. and its President (shown right) is David Chatterton. The representative of Cornish clubs on the Rugby Football Union Council is David C. Martin. The Hon. Secretary of the CRFU is Alan E. Mitchell.
The John Kendall Carpenter Memorial Fund
Linked to the Cornwall Rugby Football Union is the John Kendall Carpenter Memorial Fund which exists to help young people up to the age of 21 in sport in Cornwall and elsewhere in the world. The fund is registered with the Charity Commissioners (Registered Charity No. 1015503).
