Volunteer Retention & Recognition

The Club Development Committee held an open meeting at Bodmin Rugby Club on Tuesday 28 February extending an invitation to all the appointed Club Volunteer Coordinators plus other Club members involved with volunteers or simply wishing to gain more knowledge of “what is on offer”..

The meeting was well attended and was extremely productive with foundations put in place to improve volunteer retention and recognition within Clubs.

Jill Loader, RFU Volunteer Engagement Manager, was present and outlined the RFU’s Volunteer Recognition programme whilst Richard Simeons, CRFU Volunteer Coordinator, provided information on the Volunteer Recognition Programme which he had set in motion over the past 18 months starting with the provision of 92 World Cup Match Tickets for games played at Sandy Park.  Additionally three Volunteers plus guests had been provided with Match Tickets at Twickenham for RBS 6 Nations matches in both 2016 and 2017 with three Volunteers plus guests having attended Old Mutual Wealth Matches at Twickenham last autumn.

The current package for match tickets at Twickenham includes assistance towards travel and hotel accommodation plus passes to the Constituent Bodies Club Room and hospitality in the West Fan Village courtesy of Mitsubishi.  In future years it is hope that one volunteer plus guest will be able to have access to the RFU Members Lounge for one of the Autumn Internationals and one of the RBS 6 Nations matches.

Nominations for the 2017 Old Mutual Wealth Series in the autumn plus the RBS 6 Nations matches in 2018 will be sought in June or July.

The Club Development Committee have recently organised a NVQ Level 2 Course in Spectator Safety with eight Club Members taking advantage of the opportunity which involved no cost to the Club or CRFU.

Nominations will shortly be sought from Clubs for a Volunteer {plus Guest] to attend the County Match at Camborne on Saturday 20 May.  Those invited will be offered match tickets plus pre-match hospitality.
