St Austell RFC came up trumps again for Cornwall WAG Rugby

Twenty eight U15s girls met at St Austell RFC on Wednesday 15th February to take part in the inaugural ‘Day of Girls Rugby’ in the County. Girls from 12 -15 years of age met for 4 hours of coaching by Cornwall County and Club rugby coaches, led by Andy Demaine.

Girls came from all over the Duchy - Redruth, Hayle, Helston, St Ives, Newquay, Leopards, St Austell and Launceston – to develop their rugby skills. There was a huge range of girls, from new to Divisional players, but all had a great time developing their skills at a variety of stations. St Austell RFC generously gave the girls use of their facilities including an opportunity to play on the hallowed turf of the first team pitch. Even the coaches had their own development with Phil Morris, RFU Community Coach providing coach feedback. Thanks must go to Zeta Bailey, Liam Bellamy, Andy Demaine, Phil Jones, Dave Roberts, Martin Rodea, Sarah Kneale, Natalie Bridge and Ann Demaine for organising the day and all the parents who brought their daughters! There will be a further ‘Day of Girls Rugby’ in the Easter holidays. Keep an eye on the CRFU website.
