The CRFU were delighted to have received the following from our former Safeguarding Officer Ann Demaine;
Thoughts of CRFU Chairman Saunts
Hi all I am 4 months into the role and we are 2 months into the new season, an update as to where we are.
The new season has kicked off with one casualty, St Ives have pulled out of the league but are still very much alive, as a club, their mini-junior set up is still as strong and Chairman Andrew Baragwaneth is adamant that they continue fielding a side this season. I have spoken to Andrew and offered the help of the CRFU, their only current need is fixtures, if any side has a spare Saturday and are able to help please contact Matt Chandler 07908 486670.
Stithians Chairman Matt Reckner, made contact looking for a bit of help, many of the management board and our RFU team (see picture above), spent a quality evening with Matt going through how we could help with coaching, recruitment etc. A big thanks should go to Phil Morris who is not only helping Stithians but Redruth Albany as well with coaching. Last Saturday 18 players turned out for The Village so happy days! More work to do but from little Acorns!!!
The message has to be make contact with us, we may not have an instant solution but are more than willing to give as much help as we can, my mobile is 07554010480.
There are some great results coming from our league clubs with some quality local derbies. Last Saturday I was made most welcome at Lanner, who now have a great set-up at Mount Ambrose and watched a very competitive match between them and Liskeard-Looe, one winner …….Cornish Rugby.
I have also visited Saltash and was invited as a guest to Launceston to watch the match with Maidenhead, a feast of rugby with a narrow win for the away side 43-42. Again the greeting from the club was amazing and it was great to have a walk around and chat with some old rugby friends, again one winner ……Cornish Rugby.
I have also attended my first Trelawny’s Army AGM at St Austell Brewery. An awesome evening where player of the year awards were given out and I accepted a sizeable cheque for their continuing support of Youth rugby in the County.
My Final message is, as a team the management board are out and about visiting clubs looking to help as much as we can…….Cornwall rugby is the clubs, and we need all to succeed, both on and off the field…as Jonny would say “More players, playing more rugby more often…………..one Winner!!!!!

First XGirl Cup leg: Penryn RFC, 1pm Sunday 20th October 2019
Just one week to go before the first ever all-new XGirl Cup fixtures!
There's been plenty of adverts during the RWC for the O2 Arena international XRugby event this month... Cornwall's girls will be showing them how it's done the week before! Based on the new XRugby laws (), Cornwall's XGirl Cup gives more clubs around the county to compete in their own club shirts in a fast, fun version of rugby.
All Cornish girls teams and age groups are invited to Penryn RFC for the first of the four league events which will decide the seedings for the grand final knockout stage on the morning of a Cornwall Ladies home game. (U13s will be playing friendly fixtures under the same format).
There'll also be a home game for Penryn Ladies on the day so more female rugby to watch between matches too... see you all next week!
Notice is hereby given that the Financial AGM for the Cornwall RFU, covering the 2018-19 season will be held on Wednesday 30th October 7-15 pm at County Hall, Truro.
All clubs are cordially invited to attend.
County selector Trevor Spargo (pictured right) continued his tour of the clubs presenting a montage of souvenir photographs to the players who were part of the squad for Bill Beaumont Cup win last June. Pictured are Richie Kevern, Fraser Honey, Brad Howe, Jess Tompsett, Jack Oulton and Edd Pascoe. Missing from the line up were Matt Shepherd and Sam Stevens. They will get theirs on another occasion.
