THE JASON LEONARD U20 COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

SUNDAY 6th MAY 2018

TWICKENHAM STADIUM

K.O. 5.00 p.m.

On Sunday 29th April Cornwall’s young guns prepared well for their final at Twickenham. In the bright sunshine Josh Lord and Matt Shepherd ensured that the players take their chance to shine when they run out at HQ.

Head scratcher of the morning for CRFU committee and back room staff was:

“Who were the U20 coaches for last visit to Twickenham final in 2001/2002?”

Cornwall will certainly not be underestimating the task they face as their opponents, Yorkshire have reached the final fourteen times since 2000, winning the competition ten times.

Sides Announced for U20 Semi-Final Clash

Declan Matthews returns at inside centre (Photo courtesy of Simon Bryant – Iktisphoto).

The Cornwall team shows a few changes from the quarter-final win against Kent. In the front row Redruth’s Jack Hodge starts, whilst Dan Reed comes into the second row to partner Dan Goldsmith. Ollie Andrews moves to No.8 with skipper Torin Clarke switching to blindside in place of Camborne’s Tian Clark. In the backs Noah Nash starts at scrum-half with James Tucker remaining at fly-half after a good showing in the previous round. The powerful Declan Matthews returns at inside centre in place of Jake Penprase who returns to the wing whilst Dan Hubble reverts to the bench. On the bench Aden Brassington returns as does Luke Barnes and Tom Osborne.

Both sides are sure to be up for this game with a Twickenham appearance on 6th May the prize.

The Cornish boys will be hoping for a big crowd at Camborne on Sunday. Be there and cheer the boys on as they give their all to reach the Final.
